There are two main reasons why these Torque-Flight Automatic transmissions have issues: 1) clogged torque converter solenoid and 2) the AT has had the wrong transmission fluid put into it at some point to include Lucas Transmission Anti-slip instead of A+4, Castrol is the best available. The AT can be serviced by a DIY person using the kit for $11... contains a new gasket and filter. There are videos on Youtube for doing this. The solenoid costs about $75 at most autoparts shops and you'll need a torx set to get the longish bolts out. Clear the area very, very thoroughly with Simple Green, an old toothbrush and rags before loosening and removing the old solenoid. Use a safety razor to scrape the old gasket off completely and then use a long clear hose that you can suck on to vacuum each of the thimble sized holes in the base to remove any loose gasket materials that fell inside the holes. (Just put your finger over the end of the hose to hold the liquid content and them let it flow into a container for later disposal with the other waste AT fluid. If this doesn;t fix you issue, if could very well be the transmission control module. The toque converter solenoid and TCM will throw Fault Codes, so go to Autozone and they will read the codes for you at no charge. If it is not the TCM, at this point, a specialist shop or rebuilt transmission should be considered.

JM. 04 dodge caravan will not shift out of park. Possible brake switch faulty, if brake lights come on though it rules out the switch as faulty. Set the park brake and remove the shift cable from the transmission shift lever on trans. Try moving the lever by hand, if its stuck, then the problem in the transmission if not stuck the problem is in the shifter interlock system, steering column, ignition switch, cable. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck.
