Touch Screen Dead Spots and LCD dim

My son dropped his phone in water and grabbed it right out. We set it to dry and it mostly works. The problem is some spots on the touch screen are unresponsive and the brightness of the screen is really dim until he is on it for awhile and the brightness comes back.

What do I need to replace???

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

First thing to change is the screen. You might have some damage on the motherboard, we could only help you with very HQ close-up pictures.

You should only need to replace the display assembly. Its a pretty cheap and easy fix on a 5S.

While you have the phone open, I would take a look at the battery, battery connector and any of the board you can see. Clean up whatever corrosion you see and inspect the battery for damage. If it was a quick drop, you might be ok.

If you still have issues after you replace the screen, then it will be time for some board level stuff. Especially watch out for quick draining battery, phone heating, etc.
