Corrosion on logic board?
Hi, I have a 2009 MacBook that had some water spilled on the left/middle part of the keyboard. After drying for a day or two the keyboard wasn't working as well as the device would not shut down or sleep, always restarting and booting up.
Per another ifixit reply, I was suggested to replace the keyboard and clean any corrosion along the way. That was about three days ago. So I ordered the screwdrivers needed, but before they could arrive, one day I drained the battery to get it to stay off, and found the next day that the charger showed only a dim green light and wouldn't turn on. I am no expert, but from my perspective it makes sense there is some corrosion on the logic board near the MagSafe port. My question is:
1. If I go through and alcohol swab everything and replace the keyboard, is it likely that everything will be fixed including the sleeping problems?
2. Or could there really be parts of the logic board that are toast even after cleaning? It was regular bottled water that was spilled about 5 days ago. Besides the two mentioned problems, everything else on computer was working fine up until now that I cannot charge it. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Is this a good question?
