iPhone 6 won't charge after it's been dropped... Any ideas?

My wife dropped her iPhone 6 and it landed on its face. There was a case on it, TPU and Plastic case. After she picked it up, it randomly said a message about "the device you plugged in may not be compatible" when there was no device or cable plugged into her iPhone 6. She just discovered that it does not charge.

Any ideas? Is this self repairable?

What would need to be fixed? Thank you!

Good advice overall from the folks here.

And like Ben said you ought to try a new charging port to rule it out if this issue arises again. Just don't use a cheap part as the lightning/charging port has many functions: charging, mic, antenna, headphones jack. If you purchase a cheap part, any or all of those functions can be bad.

To do this: power off phone; unplug battery; unplug charging dock; overlay new one and plug it instead; plug battery back; start phone and test. If your issue is solved, repeat above steps but this time replace charging dock.

Here's the replacement guide for the charging port. It also has links to the needed tools and parts.

Next would be to have it examined by a repair tech that can perform micro soldering.

There's a link on my profile with a number of them that can do this repair (mail-in or walk-in).

However, if your phone is still under warranty you can have it checked at an Apple Store. They might replace it for free if there is no evidence of physical damage nor tampering.

Sounds like you could probably use a new charge port.

Thanks! She tried cleaning it out a few times with a tooth brush and plugged it back in and then back out, repeated that a few times, and mysteriously it worked again! It started charging, so she didn't touch it. Hopefully it kinda fixes itself...

possibly charge ic problem, get it checked out by a profesional, replace the chargepoert first, see what happens, or use a original cable and power brick

Thanks! Do you think those places in the mall or those local shops do this repair? Easy enough to do yourself? probably just a worn charge port, any phone repair shop should be able to perform this repair

I'd wait until the problem re-appears again. IF it happens again then I suggest replacing the charging port as that is cheaper to repair. Then if that still doesn't work then I would get it checked out like @fixpal said.
