Sounds like partially ripped volume button cable and charging port ribbon cable assembly.

Charging port assembly connects to charging port, home button and loudspeaker including bottom microphone and earphone jack.

Kind of boggles me how people break charging flex when replacing battery or screen.

You need to take the battery out and check when you removed the old battery off the adesive and where did you put the spugger to force the old battery off and you could have caught the flex cable as the vibrator on a 5c is at the top and that flex go,s to the volume and to power and vibrator silent switch and its common to catch the flex that is under the battery and if you have problems with the bottom of the iphone then you really need to take all the screws out and check that the flex cable under the loud speaker to the charging port, also was this water damage,?good luck
