Display is not backlighting, iPod got wet, iPod responding to reset

iPod got run thru wash, I can see the display resetting when i do a reset, so I know that it is responding to touch wheel input, but display is not backlit anymore- is this just a 'replace the display' issue, or is there something I can check on? I only see a small bit of the right side of the display changing, so that's how I know it is responding to 'reset' input.

Answer this question I have this problem too

From your description, I'd say your display has been damaged.

But I can't say for sure (problem could lie deeper - logic board or cable connectors).
