Ps4 won't accept disc

The disc drive itself works fine, tested in other consoles and moved the circuit board to other disc drives.. the issue is that the circuit board makes it so it doesn't accept discs. All the connections are snugly fitted so it can't be that.

Is there anything I can do?

If I manually insert it, it won't eject either.

The problem is that there is an ear on each side of that ribbon cable and when it is not removed correctly it will tear off inside the connector. Then when you try to put the ribbon cable back in it catches on that ear and won't go in all the way. Sometimes you can trim the ribbon cable so it will fit, but sometimes you need to replace that connector and replace the ribbon cable.

Yeah I put in one without the ears it went in all the way but no change, I guess it didn't connect up properly. I'm guessing it's not cheap to get a new connector on there either ;P Probably better off selling for parts as how most my repairs Im working on seem to be going towards ;P

My business fixes this type of thing all the time. It would probably cost under $100 to fix it.

Okay thanks, I may look into it

I don't know if this could be why but the clip you push in to release the ribbon cable usually doesn't actually seen to clip in, I can push the cable in but it will just pull out, but it will also stay in fine

It's not going to clip in since part of the cable is stuck in the connector. You need to line it up straight and once you get it working then tape it down so it stays.

This seems to be the culprit. No matter how much I try the right side if the cable won't go all the way in. I've tried compressed air on the port and a soft brush incase anything was stuck but that hasn't made a difference.

Sorry to ask you again but do you know if there is anything I can do @tronicsfix

I'm not too sure though as the eject button still works, all the other connection of the daughter board are snug but I dont know which connection controls the motor

Okay, I don't think it's that then as I put in a cable with no tabs which fit in fine, yet it still has the same issues.

It's the cable. It's either not in all the way or not alined correctly.
