Low battery, then dead after being plugged back in.

It's not the charger, as several have been tried with the same effect; nothing. It won't power on, doesn't show that it's charging, even after being plugged in all night. Any thoughts on what the problem could be?

first thought: battery needs to be replaced - must be pretty old.

may not be so easy to find one, though
