Why won't my water damaged iPhone charge w/ new battery?

I accidentally swam with my iPhone, after soaking it in rice for a few days I plugged it in and there was life! The only problem is it will only charge up to 10% battery life, and for some reason my auto date feature thinks its years in the future, I realized this when looking at words with friends and my last move was played "2356 days ago". I ordered and installed a new battery hoping that would fix the 10% battery problem but it didn't. Whats next?

Turn the phone off and clean clean clean! open the phone with the guides on ifixit, clean everything including under metal cover on motherboard, connectors etc with isopropyl alcohol and soft brush. leave to dry overnight then reboot.

if the problem isn't cured then it may be the dock connector or the battery contacts, having said this I've also had similar problem which was nothing to do with battery- it was actually charging but the phone only ever said 1/2

double check is right battery for phone
