I run Leopard on my MDD and it works great. Do you have more than a minimum level of ram? I have 2 GB in my MDD -- the 1 GHZ processor and the 80GB hard drive. Loaded properly and runs without problem.
I would make sure I had at least 512 MB of ram--1 GB would be better and would format the drive and do a clean install. It should work--Mactracker shows our computers will run 10.5.8. Good luck. Ralph

+ 10.5.8 runs fine on mine too. dual 1.42 2GB RAM four hard drives 2 DVD burners
Now I have disconnected the second DVD drive the machine is behaving better. Could it have been a conflict?
Yes, the Optical drives are just like the hard drives, you have to have a master- slave relationship with two units on the same bus.
