Galaxy S2 turns on for a few seconds then turns off.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G, and the problem is that when I try to boot it on battery, it turns on for a few seconds, and then turns off. But it works fine when on charge. Do I need to get a new battery? Or is there something else wrong that I need to replace?

Daemeon,

Check the battery's physical appearance whether it swollen or not. if it is swollen just disposed the battery proper way & buy a new battery otherwise clean the battery terminals and charge the battery at least 15mins. hope you have good result :-)

I would definitely start off by getting a replacement battery. The symptoms you are describing point to most likely a faulty battery.
