Why isn't my usb mouse being recognized with my laptop

So about a few months ago, i saved up some money to buy a gaming mouse since i play a lot of cs go, rocket league and FM16. The minute before the incident happened, the mouse was working perfectly fine on my sisters laptop, (I use her laptop sometimes because i may or may not have broken the screen so i have to use a 1080 monitor :P)

the next thing is i take it out of my sisters laptop, go upstairs and put it in my one, but it doesn't work. I take it out and put it in again, The mouse lights up for a millisecond then turns off again. It's the day after this and i tried it again but the same thing happens

Does anyone have any helping answers for this as i am panicking about this

Also my laptop is an ASUS X555L

Hi,

Does the USB port in your laptop work correctly when you connect other USB devices to it? Does the mouse still work in your sister's laptop?

Not quite sure about the next question as I cannot find out the exact configuration re your particular model only the generic X555LA info. Have you tried all the USB ports available on your laptop?
