Just places a fuel pump on the 2005 pontiac grand am v6. once I placed the fuel pump on the vehicle, the service engine soon light appear. I've placed the key in the on position pump the gas peddle three times and the light remains on

Has your light gone out?
If not, most auto parts stores will check it for free, tell you what the problem is and let you know what you need to fix it.
