repalce cracked screen with non touch?

I would like to know if I can replace a cracked screen without replacing the touch digitizer . It appears to be two separate parts and I do not use the touch screen anyway. I have also read that calibrating the digitzer is impossible unless you are a pro. I see many non-touch replacements for this model for sale but have had mixed answers as to whether or not they will work in a touch model laptop.
