Dropped in water lighter spots on screen.

My iPhone 6s fell into my dogs water dish it was in around 10 seconds. I put it in rice for the day turned on sound works everything works but there are couple lighter colored spots on the screen. Is there a way to get rid of this?

That is the liquid moisture inside the backlight of the iPhone 6s screen. Not sure if it's easily separable as the 3D touch is basically fused with the screen.

You will most likely have to put a new display on like Jamie H said.

So a new screen would fix it. If I just left it do you think it would be ok.

@brit yup a new display should fix this. Just to reiterate as we have done on here many times : Rice does not do anything. If your phone get submerged you will have to clean it properly or it will potentially fail.Check on here for more info.

@brit this is one of the rare case that this may work . The iphone 6s is supposed to be water resistant . So lets go with the idea its not got water on the logic board inside the phone and that there's only moisture under the glass between the glass and digitizer. if this is the cause you may and I repeat may be able to dry it out with a desiccant or silica gel . Leave it in a desiccant or silica gel for a few days or longer. If you have no joy and the spots remain then a replacement screen is in order . @oldturkey03 is right, the idea that rice will dry out anything is a myth that TV and the movies use to help forward there story line . In most causes cleaning a device thoroughly is your only recourse but as your phone is supposed to be water resistant I would give the drying compound a try. Its cheaper than the alternative . If over time you find the functionality of the phone begins to waiver then you know that water did make its way to the logic board and a complete cleaning is in order and if you do change the screen I would continue to tear down the phone and look for corrosion on the board anyway clean if you find it with 90% or higher IPA. Hope this helps

Luckily the iPhone 6s is very water resistant.

The light spots will be where the water has got inbetween the display.

A new display will probably resolve it

if you don`t want to replace your screen (very expensive) the cheaper option would be to replace the backlight, I've done this a couple times on the 5s and 6 water damaged screens, don`t know about 6s, never worked on one, find a local repair shop and ask them if its possible for them to do it, (unless you know how to solder, also good chance if breaking the lcd if done wrong)
