Why doesn't my speedometer work?

The speedometer and odometer both stopped working at the same time in my '97 Honda Civic.

U will find a cable it will be solid black with small amount of flex like a push bike break line now that will run into your gearbox near the furtherest end of the gear box away from the motor u should be abel to unbolt it from the gear box and it will have a little plastic gear that will be shreded once u take that out then u can go get a new one.
