Why does my tv Smell's like brun when i have it plug in or when it's on

It's a SVA tv

TV keeps going off and sound is still on

Hi @michaelange ,

When the screen turns off with the audio still going, try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen and check if you can detect an image at all on the screen. It will be faint but should be detectable if it is there.

If you can you have a backlight problem.

What is the model number of the TV?

You more than likely have an overloaded capacitor coming from the power supply. I dont know the exact model you have, but I had my power supply replaced under warranty a few years back for a know faulty set of capacitors they used in certain models.

Bought a 43 " 4 k UHD Samsung TV and had similar problems, except it does me and my wife dizzy. Too early to have the new TV repaired!! Cheap design!! The back plastic is very flimsy compared to similar but relatively older models. I returned it!

I agree with Brian, it sounds like you experienced an overload problem. If you are brave, you can remove the back of the set(not hard to do), and look for a capacitor with a bulged top or opened top. If it located on a circuit board. Look for the part number of the circuit board; Samsung's usually start with a BP code. You then can go to websites like Shop Jimmy, E Bay, Amazon, and find a replacement board. Many circuit board are easy to replace.

My Samsung also smells like hamburger when I turn it on???

@Patricia Ramsey I would consider unplugging it and removing the back cover. Take a look at the boards and see if you can find any components that may look odd (no, not hamburgerish, Just odd like melting. having overheated and charred etc.) Let us know what model your TV is.
