Space storage is low
I have 4gd memory internal and 8gd external. How come I can't install at least 5 applications?

as your phone having total space of 4GB hence user available space would be around 1.3GB, onboard app updates take considerable amount of remaining 1.3GB so space should not enough to install apps as you explained on question. but still you have two chance to install whatever you need.
A) move apps from internal memory to SD card
- Navigate to settings on your phone.You can find the settings menu in the app drawer.
- Tap Application Manager.
- Select an app you want to move to the microSD card.
- Tap the Move to SD Card button. If you don't see a Move to SD Card button, the app cannot be moved.
B) change the default storage
