Will ds lite works without speakers soldered in?

Hi there, my ds lite has been broken for 4 years and now I decided to repair it myself. The top screen shows white with very faint partial images and my d-pads are not responsive with some directions not working at all.

Replacing the d-pad's underneath cushion shouldn't be a trouble at all. But tutorials proved replacing the top screen to be challenging. And what's worse is I'll need to de-solder the speakers attached then solder them to the new screen.

Since I don't have a solder station nor the required skills, I decided to skip the speakers and rely on my headphone instead.

But the question is, will ds lite turn on without the speakers? I heard ds lite can't turn on without the wifi module and microphone connected. And will my headphone jack works without my speakers soldered in?

Chosen Solution

Finally, an answer has been found on some other site after some intensive searching.

"Gibble:

You do not need to solder the speakers to the top screen, they will not work but the headphone jack will, so as long as you don't need the speakers you will be fine. As long as you follow very carefully any DS shell replacement video on youtube you should be fine, and the shell and tools are pretty cheap. "
