Black Cartridge Problem With HP Deskjet

I have an old printer which recently ran out of black ink.. So I removed the black cartridge and refilled it. But when I put it back, the printer wont detect it anymore, and declares that the cartridge is defective and has problems. I have already cleaned both contact points with alcohol to remove dirt and leftover ink, but no change.
