Has my magsafe charger slowly died?

I've noticed that recently my MacBook Pro's L-Magsafe charger has started sometimes not working (light would go off and not charge the laptop) but all I had to do to fix this was remove the connector from the machine and reconnect it and it would work fine. However today, I cannot get the charger to work or show any lights no matter what I do. I have tried the SMC reset, as well as removing the battery and trying to boot just from the charger. The laptop still boots fine from the remaining charge left, but will not charge. Is this a dead charger or something else?
