iPod Classic will not turn on even after attempting to reset

I purchased a new battery, installed it and charged the battery and after a couple of hours everything appeared normal. I remove the Ipod from the socket to my PC. I was ask to restore my Ipod after several minutes I got and error and it would not update my ipod to factory settings. I remove the ipod and it froze up, I attempted to reset it by select button and menu, and it went dark and I can't restore to apple logo it is just a blank screen.

Please Help!

@backbreaker65 remove the battery for a bit and reinsert it. See if that gets your iPod going again. If so, run the diagnostics shown here and let us know what you get.

I have seen suggestions to disconnect the battery and leave disconnected for a min of 48 hours. I will try this method, so far I'm on hour 14.
