Why is my screen black after battery replacement?

I replaced the battery on my iPhone 5. The screen is fine when the front and back of the phone are separate. When I go to close the phone up, the image starts to fade. There are also vertical lines while the overall image is fading. It seems to be related to something on the left side of the phone near the top. By the time the phone is closed up, the screen is black. The home button and touchscreen still work even though I can't see anything on the screen. Any ideas?

Seems that you have bent too mach the front assembly flex cables..

You should never bent them over 45 degrees, also a clue is the vertical lines.

Unfortunately you have to replace your front assembly (lcd), but this time follow

You are right - when I first lifted the front off, it did bend back too far. I'll look into the cost of replacing the display...might just skip it and get a new phone.

Sounds like maybe its seen its better days like mine and its not even a year old. I just posted about my phone a few more mutes ago. Maybe you can do like I did and contact the product company that made your phone and explain to them your problem and see if they can repair it.. Its evadentally not a easy fix so let the experts take over. I wish you better luck with your phone .
