How to remove water from LCD backlight?

Hello,

I have a iPhone 5c with water damage, the water is in the backlights, but the LCD and digitizer still work perfectly except for the watermarks in the LCD. How would I remove the watermarks without buying a new LCD assembly?

Also, is there any sort of take apart guide for the LCD?

If I remember correctly you can carefully take off the black backlight piece + desolder the 3 solder joints on the backlight ribbon connector. Then basically put another one on. I tried cleaning it, the best way is to replace the back black backlight thingy.

You certainly could try to fix it, but honestly, anything water related.. I would just replace the front panel assembly. I trust that a lot more than hoping that water didn't slowly start creeping into anywhere on the phone.

The kit isn't too expensive, considering you can always use the tools again. Be aware that "This part does not include the home button, front camera assembly, earpiece speaker, or the LCD shield plate. You will need to transfer these parts from your old display assembly to your new part."

Here is the guide to do the replacement if you so choose to do it.

Good luck and keep us posted!
