I cant put my phone into recovery mode because of black screen?

For some reason my screen went black and only works when I press down on the top of my phone. I need to get inside of my phone to resolve this issue, but one of the small screws at the bottom of my phone is stripped. I tried putting my phone into recovery mode, but I cant even do that because of my screen. Does anyone know how to remove the stripped screw???

Answer this question I have this problem too

Holding Home button + Power button should hard power off the phone. Then you keep holding the home button immediately after while the phone is plugged into the computer to access recovery mode.

And that is a hardware issue. You will probably just end up losing data for nothing when a screen replacement will more likely solve this issue.

What is the history of this phone? Was it repaired before? Water damage?

This is a strange issue,.. if you cant switch it off & back on while holding the home button (for DFU/reset via itunes) than my advice is to let the phone die, and then once you know its dead, plug into itunes and either hold the home button until the phone turns on, or find a way to clamp the button.

As for the stripped screw, I find sometimes a small flat head to get it out a bit works, and if its possible, grip the screw with tweezers to twist it out.
