I'm sorry to hear that your digitizer it not working correctly.

First thing to try before tearing apart again is doing a hard restart by pressing and holding the lock and home button until the screen goes black and the apple logo appears. If this did not work...

During your battery replacement, did you remove the display entirely? If not, try removing the display entirely and cleaning the ribbon cable connectors. This can be done by using a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol. Be sure to allow time to air dry. Once dry, reseat the connections and assemble and try the digitizer again. If this did not work...

Try to put the old battery into the phone, if you still have it, and see if the digitizer continues to not work. If it does not work with the old battery and reseating the entire display assembly doesn't work, somehow the display got damaged during the repair and will need to get a replacement screen. iFixit offers both the part and guide on how to do it.
