Can I upgrade my processor from a 1.83 ghz

I have an imac 5,2 with a 1.83 ghz Intel core 2 duo. And would like to change it to a 2.33 ghz t7600. I have found the 2ghz can be converted but haven't found any information on my particular model.

Is this a good question?

Thanks I read another question shortly after posting this that pretty much asked the same thing and I felt pretty stupid lol.

Don't feel like that. If you've never done one of these you're supposed to ask. It's a nice upgrade and fun to do ;-)

I usually do ic and processor swaps on elevator circuits , but I'm laid off and bored.

Your machine:http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/im...

has the T7200 processor with an "M" socket: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_M

Replace with any of these: T5200, T5300, T5450, T5470, T5500, T5600, T7200, T7400, T7600[

Here's my post with links on upgrading the CPU: change MacBook Pro cpu from core duo to core 2 duo

The 2.16 GHz is a T7400, M socket. You can probably take it to a 2.4 GHz T7600, M socket.
