sudden death , only battery led's work

Hello, I have this macbook pro that suddenly died. If i press the power button, the small led light on the bottom right turns on once. Also the battery leds work like normal. Battery does charge. What could be the problem?

thanks mayer, resetting the smc did not help... what else could i try? thanks in advance.

Let think on this one a while. I need some more clues. What will it do? Any sounds or the lights, any fan activity, any system upgrades, have you opened any email attachments. Do You have a way to boot externally or use Target Mode, an external enclosure? Since you are a contributor to the site, we need to get you fixed.
