Can I replace 3G motherboard and back cover with 3GS parts?

is it possible for me to use a iphone 3GS back cover assembly with a iphone 3 G? do 3GS motherboards have have identical connectors as an Iphone 3G motherboard?

Options

3gs has a different dock connector, I think the headphone jack is the same, however camera,battery and LCD are definitely not compatible.
