phone calls can't hear me but I hear them

My iPhone 6 Plus works great! Nothing wrong until recently, no one can hear me on the other end of a phone call! I hear them perfectly fine. FaceTime video and audio work. It seems if the person I'm trying to call doesn't have an iPhone, I can't talk to them except text. I can record my self with a video and message. I tried switching with another person's SIM card. Still had trouble. When it first started, the person on the other end only heard static. Now they hear nothing, not even background noise. Help! What piece do I need to reconnect or replace!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Can you confirm you can do voice memo / voice record and hear the recording?

by

Yes. Sorry that's what I meant when saying "record myself with video and message"

Only when my mom calls I can her her but she can’t hear me why’

Cant hear my sister

Okay when you make a call you have a screen that has a "mute" "keypad" "speaker" "add call" "Facetime" and "contacts" buttons available. Check to make sure your mute button is not on. The best way to check this is to make a call and put your "speaker" on if the "mute" button and the speaker button look the same when you turn on your "speaker" then tap the "mute" button and it should turn off the mute function of the phone

Hello pauldouzat,

its seems to be issue is occurring from HD vice service on your iphone. try to do changes on below settings and restart the iPhone and check with feature phone.

tap Settings > Cellular > Enable LTE and tap Data Only.

Thanks, but I guess I forgot to mention I tried that too. Didn't cut it :/

The part usually at fault is the microphone located on the charging dock assembly. But since you have tested with voice memo / voice recorder that it is working then I doubt that part is at fault. Not really sure what to do about it here.

i don't think this is a hardware failure. get backup all data & try to perform DFU restore.

Thanks Ben. I'm really at a loss for ideas. I have no clue what to do here. Buddhika Magesh, I strongly believe it is hardware. I've reset the phone to factory settings and didn't restore from backup. Nothing so far has worked.

Hi. I have a iPhone SE on EE and a iPhone 5 on O2. Both do this in and around my home! Yet the signal on both is strong as transmitter is half a mile away. Go somewhere else ( say 8 miles away) and both work fine?!? I call using what’s app now if possible that cures it !

Hello, I have a phone store and recently came across this issue on an iphone 6 Plus. You make a call and the receiving party hears almost nothing but static, the voice sometimes comes through but very faint as the static over shadows the voice. I changed the flex cable for the front camera which has a microphone and attaches to the ear speaker, also changed the charging port/dock and nothing helped. When I replaced each of those parts it worked for like two calls and then went back to the static noise. It is very weird, because I would flick the earspeaker and then it would start working for the remainder of the call and sometimes a couple more calls, but again would continue with the issue. If anyone has an answer or comes up with a solution, let us know. It would be greatly appreciated. I've been in business for over 7 years and this is the first issue I have like this.

Thank you

it could be:

1. the bottom mic which is located on the charging flex as facetime uses the mic which is located at the top with the front camera flex.

Try to make a call and see if they can hear you whilst your phone is on loud speaker.

2. Once you have changed the part and it is still not working then it could be an audio ic issue.

I replaced both parts the top flex cable for the ear speaker and the charging port/dock as well, still same issue. the problem is present both when you're on regular phone mode and also when you're on speaker...

it looks like an audio ic issue

My wife’s iphone 6 has a very similar problem. She answers a call and the calling party cannot her her. She calls them back immediately and everything works fine.

Doesn’t sound like hardware to me.

I’m having the same issue with my iPhone 11. When I call the receiving party hears a static noise which overshadows my voice, then it eventually stops and starts back again. This happens on what’sapp calls, voice memo and Skype. Regular calls are fine.

Please anyone found a solution to this.
