"no SIM, or SIM error" when sending calls. Text and Data works.

This morning, i recieved a text requesting a call back. upon trying i recieved this message "No SIM, or SIM error". My texting and data is working fine so this confuses me. Could it be an APN issue?

Well, i feel dumb. Im using an unlocked Sprint device on T-Mobile network. Switched the network from CDMA/LTE to GSM/UMTS and its working fine.

Ok i was having the same problem, followed this advice and now it's working. HOWEVER, I can't use LTE. What's going on here?

by

Because the GSM / UMTS setting does not support LTE.

Device limitation issue due to frequency band support. That's why I go for international models of phones to avoid issues like this.

Is there no work around for this? I have a refurbished sprint phone on the TMobile network and switched to GSM to rid the SIM error, but now no data...

Sorry to revive this dead thread, but I had the exact same experience (Canadian buying U.S. refurbished from Verizon which could do MMS or calls, but not both, though data still worked for the internet).

Here's how I got everything to play nice on my Samsung S7.

1) open up the settings menu on your phone and navigate to “mobile networks”.

2) select “access point names". From here, manually input your carriers .apn information which can be found on your carrier’s website or in a physical store from the staff members there.

3) save those changes by using the three button icon which opens the drop-down menu in the top right corner of the screen and then selecting “save changes.”

4) press back to go back to the first level of the “mobile networks” page.

5) select the option titled “network mode" and choose the option “lte / gsm / umts”. When you select this option, it will ask if you would like to continue this option manually or automatically. Choose “automatic".

Your phone will now swap between network modes on its own, allowing you to use MMS, data, and talk/sms as you would expect it to.

Hope this helps!

PS. The .apn info for Fido was incorrect on their website circa August 2018. All information regarding apn settings was correct, less the bit about the MMS proxy, which should be http://mms.fido.ca rather than the numerical code that they provide.

"NO SIM, or SIM ERROR" is noted in red on my 2nd hand Sprint provider phone.

Voicemail - Call or Message are the only choices that come up on the phone.

I am Canadian who bought on Ebay a Samsung Galaxy S6 LTE and the home company is Sprint from United States. Everything else seems to be working right now but the when a call goes to the cell, it goes strictly to a voicemail that is not retrievable.

The phone does not show as the Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_7Gvl1X...

The green screen on this video does not even come up on the phone.
