Why when accelerating my rpm rev repeatedly from high to low

2000 Honda 1.6 engine transmission is CVT there hasn't been any work dune to it everytime I accelerate my rpms rev up high to low this happens every time when I go to go when I let up off gas will it only then stop with the rev

This does occur if you have an automatic transmission and it is shifting gears.

This can also happen with a manual transmission and a worn clutch (slipping). You'll have to provide more information for a diagnosis. What engine is in the car? What type of transmission? Has any work been done recently? Is the problem random, or does it happen under certain circumstances? With some more information, we'd be happy to help.

It sounds like it is something slipping inside the transmission. I'm afraid you'll need to find a good mechanic and have them look at it.

CVT does not shift gears so the RPMs should not go up and down, you marked the answer as good???
