Dualshock 4 only works in PS4 safe mode?

I'm having problems with my Dualshock 4 controller.

If it's not plugged in with the USB cable, it does nothing. No lights when I press the PS button.

When I turn on the console, it says connect the controller with the USB cable and press the PS button. When I do that, nothing happens. No lights on the controller and no response from the PS4.

However, when I turn on the console in safe mode, the controller seems to work just fine.

When I try to connect the controller to my PC with the USB cable, it continually disconnects and reconnects.

I have tried 3 different USB cables, including the one it came with. This is the controller that came with the console.

What can I do?

I think your Bluethoot antenna is broken. I have the same problem, tried with different controllers, and tried my controller on another PS4 without any problem.

Im considering to buy a wired controller, does anybody know if that will work out?

A wired controller does work. Still can't seem to get a wireless controller to stay connected outside of the safe mode screen.

# First try another controller and see if you still have the same issue. If the issue is still the same with a new controller, then read part two.

  1. If a controller only works in safe mode, this usually is not a controller issue, but instead is a console issue. The PS4 console only reads a controller through the the charge cable in safe mode. When the console is not in safe mode, the console reads the controller through the Bluetooth chip that is soldered onto the consoles motherboard. The only way to fix the issue is to have the consoles Bluetooth chip replaced. This video will help. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cTD3jjo1cr...

If it were the bluetooth chip, wouldn't the controller work when plugged in via USB?
