Original Touch ID, the cable(ribbon) is broken

Hello, i have a small problem. One day my home button stopped working. I did not try to repair it. The touch ID still was working fine. But now the touch id stopped working aswell. I removed it, and found out that the ribbon is ripped off. Is there any solution to get it working? I know if I buy a new button, the touch ID will stop working.

Thank you,

Erik

Sorry to say that there is no way to repair a ripped cable. You can replace the home button by itself but the touch id won't work. If you won't touch id to work you would have to purchase "iPhone 5s Logic Board with Paired Home Button" which iFixit sells in the parts store

I guess it does not worth it. Which part i should re-solder to a new button? (from the little board) I will order 2 buttons, maybe I can fix it by that.

Not sure what you mean. Can you rephrase the question?

You CAN resolder it, however it is going to be very difficult. There are people offering this repair in China. Basically you need to attach the broken cable firmly together, then peel off the insulation film above and bond the traces with thin wire.

so it is not impossible. I ordered 2 buttons, 5$ each. I will give it try. So i should try to resolder the wire, not a few components under that siliconish jelly?

by

There is a chip under that jelly, you need that one as well.

by

just the chip is not enough?

by

No, from what I know, both the cable chip and the main chip under the button are required. iPhone 6 even uses single chip design, everything is integrated into the button chip.
