What has happened to my screen?

*my camera is the Nikon coolpix s32 rather than the s33, but it didn't show up as an option so thought this was the closest*

Hi, so the screen on my camera was fine about 20 minutes ago, but then it started to dim and within 1-2 seconds, it was really dark. It was very close to being completely black, but I could still make out some of the white symbols, etc. I turned it off and tried again, and the screen remained dark but began to flicker slightly. Just a few minutes ago, I went to turn it on again and the screen didn't light up at all.

The last time I used this was on my DOE practice expedition, and it got slightly damp in my pocket, and you could see traces of water on the screen, but then I dried it up and moved it to a drier place in my bag. As it's a waterproof camera, I assumed this wouldn't affect it, and all of the ports and things like that were closed properly, so I really don't know.

We're going on holidays on Wednesday (three days from now) and I really wanted to take it with me if I could get it to work, so is there any way I can fix it? And I'm almost certain that the warranty was ran out 8 months ago, so if I can't fix it could you recommend anyone? (In the UK)

Thanks:)

@weejordy this could be an issue originationg from your LCD which may have failed. It is also possible that this is caused by the logicboard from water damage. I'd replace the LCD first and check the logic board for corrosion etc.
