Problem Activating My iPhone 4

So my iPhone said it needed a factory reset to make call s so i backed it up and restored it now i can't get past the activation part and iTunes says "Trying to activate iPhone with no sim unplug and insert sim card" or something like that and the problem is that my activated sim card is not registering in the phone it just keeps saying searching so I'm stuck on the setup stage on my iPhone and i can't get past the activation part. (Note i recently repaired the phone after about a year of it being broken and it is up to date with IOS)

You did connect the phone to a Wi-Fi network so it can automatically synchronize the date and time on the phone and also assist in activating the phone right?

was the sim card in the phone when you wiped it ? Check your sim card in another phone to make sure it is still ok.
