1999 Chev. Cavalier won't start, power to the starter?

1999 Chev Cavalier, has power to the starter but does not crank when the key is turned. Can jump the solnoid and the car will crank, but with the key on the car will not start. Can someone help with this problem?

Car was towed to me with no starter in engine, wires hanging, not sure how many wires should be goign to the starter. Does anyone know how many wires connect to th starter?

You might have a faulty ignition switch and you can get one for around 50 bucks if you '''look here.'''

Hi, It sounds to me like the wire to the pre-engager solenoid is disconnected.

You should have one thick lead that connects from the battery to the large stud terminal on the solenoid and a smaller “command wire” that connect the solenoid’s windings to the 12 volt supply when the key is turned to start position.
