remove Lenovo Thinkpad E431 laptop BIOS Supervisor password

I work at a school where a student has set all of the BIOS passwords on a Lenovo Thinkpad E431 (Type 6277-5AU). I have removed the main battery and the backup battery and cleared the Power-On Password, and I can now get into the BIOS setup and see that the passwords are set, but can not clear or change the passwords. The Lenovo manual indicates that the motherboard must be replaced.

From the Manual "If you forget your supervisor password, Lenovo cannot reset your password. You must take your computer to a Lenovo reseller or a Lenovo marketing representative to have the system board replaced."

Can some one point me to a set of instructions (preferably with pictures) to clear the passwords on a Lenovo Thinkpad E431.

Thanks.

I found this on the Lenovo Support site.

It says that you only have to replace the Motherboard if the supervisor password is set..This will not let you into the bios....you have access to the bios so this may help.

Thanks for your answer.

After clearing the Power-on password the clock kept prompting (press F1) to be set each time the computer was powered on and I would enter the BIOS, but could not change any settings. After working a few days upgrading other computers I circled around back to this one, and decided to try something different. While booting the computer, I kept pressing the ESC key and the computer booted. I can now use the computer and upgrade the OS to Windows 10 EDU, but if I press the F1 key while powering on, I am prompted for the supervisor password that I do not know.

I still have a computer that I cannot change the BIOS settings on, but at least it is bootable now.

Thanks again for your assistance.
