Home button problem after Display Assembly replacement

I just replaced my iPhone 5 Display Assembly and battery with iFixit parts and instructions. Easy to do.

Home button no longer works. All other phone functions OK, including adaptive work-around for home button...

Home Button cable looks intact after removal/swap, during repair but cable end with the two gold pads not sticking down.

Could contacts on case and gold pads be misaligned? How to check this?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Does the home button click / feel jammed? If you want to check for it to be misaligned which is highly unlikely if you used the two correct cone shaped phillips head screws for it disassemble until you are able to take the screen off safely.

Then unscrew the two phillips screws for the home button metal plate, that reminds me.

There is a chance you could of put the metal plate upside down. Unflip it if it is upside down and test the home button if it clicks or not. Otherwise I think the home button itself might be damaged.

Look carefully right behind the home button, the ribbon cable could of been damaged at that spot.

Home button feels normal / clicks OK, but doesn't activate phone functions when pressed.

Will check plate and ribbon cable.
