Headphone port not working after housing replscement

Hi there. I recently changed my iPhone 5s's housing and now my headphone jack isn't working as it should. My charging port and antenna and speaker are all working fine just my headphone jack. When I put some headphones in (I have tried 3 different headphones), the sound is distorted. All the screws are in the dock connector so I'm not sure what to do. Do I need a replacement dock connector ?

I can get a replacement dock connector but just want to know what caused this problem so I can prevent it in the future

Thanks

You need to be careful when taking out the dock connector as it has adhesive under most of the dock connector assembly. It is very easy to tear if you use the wrong tools or pry at the wrong spot.

Basically what you need to do is start prying with a non-sharp prying tool from the upper right of the dock connector and work your way down to the bottom left slowly. You can pull the dock connector a bit but not with too much force or you may risk tearing / damaging it.

Not sure if bad alignment of the headphone jack can be the cause as well but it is possible.

I've replaced many dock connectors for iPhone 5, 5s, 6 and 6+ so I don't think headphone jack alignment is an issue when you have the two screws to hold the headphone jack to the iPhone metal housing.

If you need you can get the part from here:
