Replacing the headphone jack.

My friend's Macbook has the switch inside the headphone jack permanently stuck. I researched possible solutions and she tried getting it unstuck with a paper clip, a toothpick, etc. It didn't work. She took it to the Genius Bar where they told her it was permanently stuck and the repair would be $280.

If it's permanently stuck, the part needs to be replaced. My question is, how do I go about doing this, and where can I get the part?

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer this question I have this problem too

I Know a few places that can repair it, Its a component level repair that can be done, but requires a skilled technician to do so and a good set of tools, and at least a hot air SMD rework kit.

If you are a board level tech, I can walk you thought it, having done the repairs myself before.

email me at amurtiger@me.com, and I can point you in the right direction, but I will warn you, this is not an easy repair, and the parts are difficult at best to get.

Looks like everyone missed this question. Please start your own question along with the last three letters of your serial number, so I know exactly the right part, and I'll make sure you get an answer. Also are you sure yours can't be fixed, it's rare that they can't be.
