The shoes don't contact the drum.
I put new shoes on 91 Club Car, adjusted as much as possible but the shoes don't contact the drum. When I activate the brake lever at the bottom of drum only the rear shoe expands but not enough to contact drum. The front shoe remains stationary. How is it supposed to work?
This cart belongs to a friend and he said he hasn't had brakes for a few months. Never parks on hill and never follows to close. I looked at the shoes and they were almost to metal so I put some new shoes on. Still won't stop. I adjusted the upper adjuster all the way in (towards backing plate) and never got the shoes to contact drum. I adjusted the cable equalizer to make sure there was enough slack to completely release the lower lever the cable is attached to, but made sure it still fully activated the lever for maximum shoe expansion. When I fully engage the lower lever the shoe towards the rear of the wheel moves but only about 1/8" the front show doesn't move at all. It seems something is not right in that lower shoe expansion set up but it doesn't appear to be broken. Thanks for any help.
Is this a good question?
