Mac beep after hd replacement

Hi guys, My mac stopped working, and when i performed the apple hardware test it said that i had an issue with the heat sensor of the HD, so i replaced it with a new one...

Now, when i try to start, the symbol of the bin with a "?" in it pops up. Thats normal, since i don't have the system installed on that new HD.. but when i try to start with the Instalation DVD, the mac starts to BEEP...

In the internet, some people said it could be a problem with bad RAM, but i'm curious by why this happens only when i try to run from the DVD..

Can anyone help me?

How many beeps? Is the a discernable beep sequence? As to the fan sensor, did you change brands of drives?

Hey Mayer,

3 beeps, 5 seconds silence, 3 beeps (continues to so forever...)

I used the same brand of HD (SeaGate) that came with the Mac..

The three Beeps indicate a RAM issue. First try reseating the RAM. That failing, insert just one stick at a time to test both the RAM and the RAM slots. Either can fail.

You may also have hard drive temperature sensor errors when changing drives on this model. Again did you change brands? OWC makes an in-line sensor that solves the run away fan issue (if you have it).

I did a reset in the RAM with Command (⌘), Option, P e R... stiil beeping.

Here's what Apple says about the three beeps, keep testing: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202768

Here's how to change it: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2429 RAM Replacement

Have you changed the RAM/ What does your system profiler say you have? Compare it to what you see.
