Touch screen not working after replacement, am I missing something?

My front glass was smashed and the touchscreen wasnt working- not suprising. But now I replaced the front panel and no touchscreen. Actually I'm at the stage of testing to make sure new one off ebay works. lcd works fine as does home button. This is the first time ive replaced a screen on ipad and I feel like it may be something very obvious. I havent removed the glass protector and I didnt clean/ scrape offthe black foamish looking stuff around lcd. Is there something simple or otherwise that could make the touchscreen not respond?

Make sure you double check your connections. Our you testing it once you closed and sealed up the iPad. If so test it with the screen assembly open what happens with iPad repairs is if the ribben cables are very sensitive so make sure it's not bent or pinched or placed In the wrong place. If you still have no touch you have a defective digizter have the seller on eBay warranty you screen.

Thanks for reply. When I get the new digitizer in hopefully better quality I will follow your advice. i wasnt sure I'd be succesful removing the front panel so I went with the cheapest- not the best idea. They are giving me a refund but the extra time it'll all take wasnt worth saving a few $, but at least I learned something, thanks again

You need to push the cables in tight as some are lined to the point they need to go in once your pushing them in it might seem scary that they're gonna break but push them in to the point they can't go any further and that should fix the problem , happens a lot during repairs

I have an ipad mini a1432. It has the same problem... what do you mean that "some are lined to the point they need to go in"?

Check the connectors on the iPad to make sure everything is connected properly. But I'm sure the problem is the screen was brought on eBay, there screens are very cheap and have a high defective rate. Just purchase a screen from Ifixit and you should be all set.
