Need to format, but not recognized by computers.

Hi folks,

I had some problems with my iPod so I decided I wanted to format it. Problem is iTunes and Windows Explorer freeze up when I connect my iPod. I put it in disk mode, but same problem. I put it in dfu mode and it shows a message it needs to be restored via iTunes, BUT as I've mentioned iTunes freezes up when I connect my iPod.

Can anyone please help me? I can't explain how important it is for me to have music with me on the go. Those who feel the same, understand immediately what I'm talking about.

Thanks so much for your time and attention.

Paul

I don't have an answer but I have the exact same issue. Hopefully another drop in the bucket yields an answer. . .

paulmeijer I'd start of by putting the iPod in Diagnostic mode. Check on here how to do that.

Check the results from your diagnostics and let us know what it says. Right now my number 1 suspect for this is a bad hard drive and the logic board a close 2nd
