Diagnose extent of damage caused by liquid exposure

I accidentally dropped my phone in the toilet :(

I put it in rice to dry it out for a couple of days, However i was also very impatient and desperate for my phone so i repeatedly tried to turn it on.

Its been about 4 days now and as well as the rice ive also had my phone under the heater and hairdryer to try to get rid of any moisture.

Ive tried to charge it and it does respond to the charger, it charges to 100%.

Its still not turning on, but if i try when the charger is connected it will boot up to second samsung image and just before it would ordinarily turn on it vibrates and returns to the start. As soon as the charger comes out the phone goes black and is unresponsive again.

It doesnt seem to have a clear indicator to show whether liquid damage has occured (red/white tab?...i cant find it!)

Is there a way i can check over my phone myself to see what parts might have been affected?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

kathlenetallent first thing you want to do is to skip the rice. It is nothing but a waste of time and gives a false sense of doing something. It does absolutely nothing. It will not prevent corrosion nor fix shorted SMD components.

Just like any other submersion, it is a bit of a guessing game as in how your phone will respond to a proper cleaning. The importance right now is to not turn it on, or trying to sync/charge it. Remove the battery, and disassemble is right down to the logic board . Clean everything with isopropyl alcohol (90%+) and a soft brush, including all connectors and cable ends. Check for any burned or missing components. You may have to repeat this step a couple of times. This guide shows you how to properly clean. It was written for an iPhone but all the points are pertinent to your phone as well. Once it is cleaned, reassemble it and replace the battery, then reevaluate for any real damage. Right now, everything will only be a guess, and the longer you wait the more corroded it will get.
