running MacBook without attached display

If I follow all the steps under the step-by-step guide for replacing the entire display and then put the laptop back together without a new display would it still function entirely (disk drive, wifi, bluetooth) with an external display through the mini-dvi port?

My MacBook runs fine in clamshell mode but the display that's attached to the macbook does not work after water damage. I would like to remove the attached display and have access to the keyboard and trackpad while being attached to an external display.

You can remove the display, but the antennas are connected to it, if you don't mind pulling out the antenna wires from the display and connect it to the airport on the logic board, you will retain wifi and bluetooth capabilities. Make sure the antennas don't touch though, as you'll be pulling an "iPhone 4" with the antennagate
