Why is my laptop not turning on correctly

When I turn on my laptop it tells me: An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any device that don't contain an operating system. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.

So I did what it's telling me to do and it keeps returning back to the same error.

Answer this question I have this problem too

This sounds like you have a corrupted drive. Can you tell us what happened beforehand. Did you bang or drop your laptop?

Do you still have the recovery disks that came with your system? You'll need them to try to recover the drive.

I would be more interested in what version of Windows it was running, just because most computers don't come with recovery discs anymore.

Very True! But they can be ordered or created beforehand. I was thinking this is likely an older system as the Compaq named systems have faded into the back when HP bought the company.
