Headphone jack only able to hear one side

I used to be able to plug the headphones into the jack and wiggle it around to get both sides to work. But now it is almost impossible to get it to work. So I can only hear one side when I plug my headphones in. Do I need to replace the Logic Board (is that what its called???) or is it something simpler than that?

Does this happen with all earphones?

Yes, it does. Also with speakers. I can only get one side to work. Everything is mono...

Gabe, I think it is just like anything else. You get out what you put in, yes the USB cards are good to listen etc. but as for recording it depends how sophisticated you need and if you are looking at M-audio then I think you want sophisticated :)

The headphones jack is dead... and its soldered to the logic board so unless you're really good with soldering then you're gonna need to buy a new logic board...

An alternative is a USB sound card

Hey Gabe,

Is a USB sound card pretty much just a cheap interface? If I'm interested in recording, would I be better off just buying an M-Audio interface or something like that?
