MacBook Pro TrackPad Scrolling Problem (click are ok but not scroll)
Hello. I have a strange problem with my Macbook Pro A1286 Core i5 2.4 Ghz and Trackpad.
The trackpad "click function" is good, but there is no way to resolve the problem of no scrolling.
I have try also to change the trackpad with a new one and to change also the entire trackpad cable but I haven't resolve my problem.
Try also to Reset PRAM and SMC but without any result.
Try also to Remove the battery ... nothing ...
So I have start to check the Macbook Mainboard for try to find something that can be the cause to the problem.
All it seem to be ok, but there is a small point that I would understand that can be the cause of all.
I attach some photos...you can find a "small" component that it seem to have a small break ...
So the question is:- "can be this component the cause of all ?".
Or do you have any idea about the solution of the problem ?
Thanks in advance for your help guys.

Is this a good question?

From your images it looks like you do have a damaged chip which you've marked. Can you take a shot at a 45 degree angle looking at the break. That way we can see if the chip has failed or the case is just damaged.
What often happens here is a short will cause the chip to explode from the inside cracking the case.
Did you get your system wet?

Thanks Dan .. I attach other shots ... (no the system not wet) .. I think that the small break was caused from a memory that was fallen up to the chip.

Still hard to tell as the new pics are a bit out of focus.

I attach you other shots Dan . Better than this is impossible due to the dimension of the chip.

Wow! What a collection! I think the auto focus is getting in the way here. But I think you caught a good snap that shows the connection to the logic board has snapped on one of the legs. This also looks like a SMC capacitor. Hopefully our buddy @oldturkey03 can help us here.
